Well that’s a wrap on PowWOW 2016. Chicago was breathtaking, and we were greeted by great weather – by no means a guarantee in May – and more importantly, great people. We did things a bit differently this year, starting off with a day and a half of conference sessions, and ending with University. But we still did what we have always done at PowWOW: we learned, gathered feedback, networked, gave awards to our always wonderful customers, and explored our host city. You can see the entire Facebook Album Here. Here’s a quick rundown of PowWOW 2016.
Day 1: The Conference, Setting Sail, and the Hancock Building
We kicked everything off with a keynote presentation from Microsoft Managing Director Jeff Lear. He spoke about the future of technology, the Cloud, Microsoft’s Hololens technology, and how Microsoft and Passageways will continue to collaborate around these rapidly maturing technologies. That energy propelled the event toward Passageways’ discussion of where we’ve been and where we are going. OnSemble and OnBoard product managers provided a roadmap, a glimpse at the near future. And with great excitement we launched a beta of the redesigned OnBoard for the iPhone, iPad, and Windows Tablet. And that was all before 11:00am!
Customers and professionals alike gathered for a series of breakout sessions to share best practices, new ideas and innovations, and network across industries. The breakout sessions were some of the best ever, including our all-star customers and board governance professionals sharing their insights and strategies. They covered a broad range of topics, from Engaging Your Employees Using Your Intranet to The Next Generation of Policy & Procedure Structures. And before the evening arrived, we held the Bestie nominations which featured some absolutely amazing videos where our customers shared how OnBoard and OnSemble has changed the way they work.
The evening’s main event soon approached, we got dressed up because we like looking good, had a cocktail, and gathered for the 2016 award ceremony. Bestie’s were awarded, Luminaries were recognized for their storied contributions, and dinner was enjoyed. It all went by so fast, in no small part because we were were scheduled to set sail on Lake Michigan. A hard-stop to enjoy the captivating sights in the presence of wonderful people is certainly nothing to complain about. So we raced to the bus and before we knew it we were at sea. It was as stunning as it sounds.
And it was over all too fast. But before the night came to a close, we made one final stop on The 96th Floor Lounge atop the John Hancock building. A breathtaking view to be sure. Chicago, we miss you already.
Day 2: Amazing Sessions and Closing Ceremony
Tuesday kicked off with a lineup of remarkable sessions including: eDiscovery risks to avoid in board communications, Cloud has arrived…. Now What?, How to Make the Most of Your Intranet on a Limited Budget, and Overcoming the Technology Adoption Problem. By noon, we had to say our goodbyes to those customers who were not attending university, many of those who made PowWOW 2016 the best ever. With a final goodbye and farewell, Paroon closed the conference.
Day 3: Hands on Learning with Passageways University
The third and final day at PowWOW was packed with four tracks of educational sessions, focused on topics like product administration, best practices on implementation, detailed training on specialized products, and an even deeper discussions surrounding product feedback. Attendees wrapped up the conference full of ideas and ready to carry their knowledge home and to make the most of their solutions!
PowWOW 2016 reminded us once again how fortunate we are to have such inspiring customers, such dedicated colleagues, a bright future with people who bring us such cheer. Goodbye, and we’ll see you in 2017.
